These ear-warping micro-digital vignettes offer a thrilling take on current electronic music. True to the Unschooled label's principles, Know The Situation captivates completely, while remaining free of predictable genre devices. The overall effect of Doofgoblin's arrangements is concisely orchestrated, tightly-wound chaos. On the tracks "Stove Hot" and "Crawdaddy" thickets of crisp, booming electronic detritus blap and bounce across the speakers in miniature digital fits of percussive and melodic delight, only to unravel, overtaken by sizzling swathes of fried-out static. Rounding out the album’s 17 tracks – most clocking in around two mesmerizing minutes – are a handful of equally compelling mid-to-down-tempo pieces and an excellent, lilting vocal track. Know the Situation delivers a blissful, forward-looking, kick in the pants to the electronic genre.
